This is a reminder to consider how you can plan some time over the summer to get ahead with your teacher CPD. Remember it’s part of your registration process and you can be at an advantage when applying for supply teaching jobs or permanent teacher roles.
In addition, taking time over the summer to get ahead can re-energise you and set you up for the new term. Some CPD course are free or can be accessed at a reduced price, so here is a reminder.
What Teacher CPD courses we offer
We partner with CPD online, which is a company that offers a range of recognised online courses. All courses meet the needs for many supply teachers to keep up to date on their training and teacher CPD requirements. The courses are heavily subsidised and there are many to choose from, such as:
- Safeguarding Children Level 2
- Safeguarding Children Level 3
- Prevent Training
- Paediatric First Aid
The courses are quick and easy to navigate online, enabling you to work at your own pace and are fully recognised as CPD; a certificate is provided.

We also offer free in-house cover supervisor training delivered by our Education Manager and some of our Consultants. Please check with your local branch re availability.
In addition, we run a one day Teaching Assistant Course delivered by our Education Manager for £15 including a light lunch. Please check with your local branch re availability.

Free training via other sources
Lots of councils but not all, offer free safeguarding courses online and is worth researching.
Open university. Don’t forget that there are hundreds of free courses available via open learn at the Open University. A great way to study at your own pace and online. Take a look as you may be surprised as to what’s on offer, click here to visit their website.
Recording your CPD
Remember to keep your teacher CPD records up to date. Include the time you’ve spent and what you’re learning outcomes were. You can access our free CPD recording forms and calculator via our candidate portal to make it easier for you. Always plan how you will translate what you have learnt into the classroom and note it down. This makes it meaningful and demonstrates you are focusing on pupil outcome and helps you track your learning progress.
